Top Features of the Elite Crono Fluid ElastoGel Trainer
CRONO FLUID from Elite is a sealed hydrodynamic system that regulates the effort of the pedalling through a rotor submerged in oil with special characteristics of viscosity and high temperature resistance.
- Crono frame
- 45mm ElastoGel roller is 33% larger than previous models, which means less noise, lower rpms, and less wear
- Redesigned Fluid resistance unit cools more efficiently, and runs smooth and quiet
- Standard hub clamp assembly
- Quick - thread hub clamp system
- Foldable frame
- Pre – assembled
- Road
- Noise Level: Quiet
- Power Rating: Infinite
- Q/R Included
- Resistance: Fluid
System's rotation speed determines the effort, more or less intense that is transmitted to the wheel. Everything happens inside an aluminium alloy housing, with wide cooling fins for a quick heat squandering. These are the advantages of this kind of unit:
The easiness of use, no regulation of the effort is necessary because it self-adjusts with the variation of speed. You just have to use the gears of the bike, as when you are on the road to obtain different levels of resistance.
The roundness of pedalling, much alike a road race;
A greatly progressive resistance;
The elastogel roller, which in this roller has bigger dimensions (45mm of diameter instead of the usual 30mm). The elastogel material allows to obtain a perfect adherence to the tyre allowing progressions of the pedalling rythm without noticing any slipping between the wheel and the roller itself. Notably one of the most underlined limits of the old rollers was the poor adherence to the tire that blocked the change of pace and effort like it naturally happens on a road race.
Another very important innovation of the Crono Fluid is the frame which self-adjusting compass structure, that allows to transmit the load on the resistance unit in function of the weight and the position of the athlete, differently from what happens with a classic frame, where such a load is pre-determined by a mechanic system with constant load therefore the weight of the cyclist does not affect the development of power.
The result of such innovation is that the power of the pedalling is a function also of the weight of the cyclist, with a greater level of faithfulness to road race that is 51% superior compared to a classic frame. The comparative tests carried out in the laboratories of the Mechanical Engineering Dept. of Padua's University show that on a road race the power expressed by the athlete is connected also to the weight and the position of the athlete as it happens only by using hometrainers that have a Crono frame.
It is not necessary anymore to regulate the pressure of the roller of the resistance unit on the tire or connect and disconnect the unit before and after the training. This system allows the rear wheel of the bike of any dimension to lean on the roller of the resistance unit automatically with the weight of the bike itself and the cyclist, moreover the slightly flexible system reduces the effect on bike's frame and simulates more accurately the feeling of a road race. Crono Fluid is widely known as the most silent, smooth and easy to use trainer on the market.

About the Elite brand
Elite have been manufacturers of cycling trainers, workstands and bottle cages. Elite were born at the end of the 1970s as builders of rollers for bike training and bike racks for cars. Elite entered the bicycle market as a company with the ability to interpret the needs of the bicycle market sector by creating modern and original products. In 1984, Elite was the first company in Europe to create and produce a roller with a posterior supporting stand, putting a milestone on the road of the development of this component. The bottle holder ""Macan"", which was introduced in 1987, revolutionised the basic concept of this accessory, with the introduction of new elements like for example the plastic covered head, to hold the bottle in place more firmly, or like the adjustable runners for the screws which fix things to the frame. Little by little, thanks to this continuous feeling for innovation and research, the bottle holder has also evolved: the ""Ciussi"" model with its characteristic anti-vibration side buttons, and the innovative ""Patao"" with its futuristic design are the most evident fruits.

Magazine reviews for Elite Crono Fluid ElastoGel Trainer
Review from Cycling Plus
What the Elite lacks in robustness compared to price rivals like the Blackburn Tech Fluid it more than makes up for in styling and finesse.
If the Blackburn was a Hummer, the Elite is definitely a Ferrari. Okay, a turbo doesn't have to look good, but it can't hurt if it does.
Coming pre-assembled and folded, setup is a breeze and since there's no resistance adjustment or wires to worry about, you can just get on and ride.
Stability is good and it's remarkably quiet and vibration-free. Like the Blackburn, it uses a fluid resistance system that gets tougher the faster you go and you can add variety by using your gears.
However, the power curve seemed less steep and more progressive than the Blackburn, which is much more suited to the average rider. Spinning your legs off is far easier and there was more than enough top-end resistance for our tester.
Another plus point over the Blackburn is that you won't risk a hernia moving it, so it should prove popular as a portable 'back of the car' warm-up trainer for testers and 'crossers.
As with the Blackburn, if you have some power measurement technology on your bike then just add this to create a complete training package.
In conclusion...
Simple, smooth, stable and stylish - this makes for a great little no-frills turbo
