Robust Design

The Fenix 5 is built for the outdoors and extreme-performance training therefore the watch comes with an advanced level of durability which is suited to extreme environments and terrains. The lens of the watch comes with a sapphire glass construction which is super robust and protective. The watch band is made of silicon for excellent water resistance and protection against sweat. The watch in general comes with a 10ATM waterproof rating and the watch’s display has a 240 x 240 pixel resolution for a superb coloured display which you’ll be able to read even in direct sunlight.

Training

The watch is built to monitor your training performance and comes with four different ways that it records and presents this information:

Recovery Advisor – Tells you the recommended time that you personally need to recover.

Training Load – Lets you know how hard you train over a certain period of time no matter what type of activity you were doing.

VO2Max Estimator – Uses your activity data whether you’re swimming, running, cycling etc. and combines the information to estimate the maximum volume of oxygen you can consume per minute which gives you key indications into your fitness levels.

Training Status – Shows you how effective your training is and provides guidance on whether you’re peaking, overreaching, or not pushing hard enough.

Multisport

The Fenix 5 can be used for just about any form of sporting activity. The watch comes with multiple different sport modes that come with individualised displays which will give the most effective metrics for your particular sport. You can also customise the displays to feature exactly what you want to know about your current activity.

Connectivity

Using Bluetooth Smart you can connect the watch to your smartphone for a huge host of additional features and functions. Once connected you can sync your activity and performance data from the watch to the Garmin Connect app which will allow you to track your data over days, weeks, months and years to truly see your progress. Using the app you can also share your results with others. The connectivity also allows you to download personalised watch faces and lets you receive your phone’s notifications straight to the watch face.
