When you’re out cycling on the road it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings for oncoming traffic and the positions of other road users. You may notice oncoming traffic, and motorists to your left and right but it’s near impossible to stay 100% aware of road users behind you. The Varia therefore acts as an early warning system that will alert you with an LED light warning and audio alarm so that you’re aware of what’s coming.
The Varia Rearview Radar RTL510 mounts to the rear of your bike via a provided mounting system that connects to the seat post. This firstly acts as a light with a capacity of up to 65 lumens which provides up to 220-degrees of light visibility which can be seen in low lighting conditions and also in direct sunlight during the day. The light then also works as a sensor that will alert you via your Garmin cycling computer or specific Radar display device with a LED light system that will go green when all is good, and amber when a vehicle is approaching, then when it turns red it means that the motorist is very close behind you.
The Varia light can be completely controlled via your Garmin compatible computer or your Radar specific display. This allows you to change light modes and turn your bike light on and off while you’re on the go. The light comes with multiple different modes which allow you to find the best lighting for your particular lighting environment or battery life. There are three different light modes and these include:
Mode One (Solid): 20 lumens light output – 6 hours battery life
Mode Two (Night Flash): 29 lumens light output – 6 hours battery life
Mode Three (Day Flash): 65 lumens light output – 15 hours battery life
